Later the
same day, the same train cruises through the Wairoa countryside with
a train-load of local school children. For many of them it would be

Approaching Gisborne the railway crosses the Gisborne Airport runway.
At this point trains can be controlled from the airport control tower.

Safety valve hissing deafeningly, J1234 accelerates from a standing
start at a photo-stop south of Wairoa, on the return trip to Napier
the next day. By the way, there is no tunnel at this location, only a
